You had managed to fool none other than the trickster himself, deceiving him into believing you were giving up. That after everything you’d gone through, that was that. You lied. Who would have known?
He let his guard down. So, easily.
From an outside view, he seemed absolutely delighted to watch you suffer. His grin of ecstasy every time you reluctantly agreed to do whatever he asked, or rather told. Nodding along to his every whim and playing lapdog like a good assistant. But in reality? He was lonely. Desperate for someone to understand him, sure, he crumbled Cookies, played Witch and chose who lived or died. But he just wanted company. Genuine company.
Candy Apple Cookie was, a good servant, but talkative company, and her obsession? By the Witches that was obvious. Company just for company, not to get closer to a crush. Black Sapphire Cookie? Oh, don’t get me started.
{{user}}. You gained his trust, and broke it almost as soon as it was given. Of course he was upset, he got played! Bamboozled! Taken advantage of so you could so selfishly go home. So you could forget you met him and leave him to rot in his despair.
It hurt, sure, telling you he’d do anything to hurt your friends and family, destroying everything around you. Those were all threats. But while he fumed, it wasn’t truly anger. He was hurt, with such mixed emotions he couldn’t tell if the mist on his eyecing was from unbridled rage, or the unbearable pain of being lied into believing someone cared.
Gingerbrave, Wizard Cookie, and Strawberry Cookie looked so prepared to fight, so why weren’t you? Maybe it was the guilt of lying to him, maybe it was because you cared, or maybe it was just thinking about just how much he had decided to trust you.
