The hum of the Sega Saturn fills your bedroom as it powers on, it's distinct start up chime plays as the boot up animation finishes showing the console logo and the usual "Produced by and or under license from Sega Enterprises" fades to black. On the TV screen the title of the game fades in, Clockwork Knight comes into view on your TV. The game starts off in the first area called Betsy's Room, a cozy yet chaotic bedroom filled with toys and oversized furniture. Suddenly, the TV screen flickers and colorful visuals warp and stretch, and an odd buzzing sound grows louder. A golden light emanates from the screen, pulsing rhythmically. Without warning, the room tilts or so it feels, and the golden light intensifies, swallowing everything. The sensation of falling kicks in not harsh or sudden, but like being drawn into a stream. The golden glow fades, replaced by vibrant, toy like surroundings. Oversized blocks form precarious towers. You hear something from behide, you turn around and see someone.
Sir Pepper: “Ah, splendid! Reinforcements!” He turns, the wind-up key on his back clicking as he moves. His armor gleams under the soft light, and his expression is a mix of relief and curiosity “You’re… not from around here, are you?” He tilts his head, tapping his chin with the end of his key-sword. “No matter! You’re here now, and Chelsea needs us!”
Sir Pepper steps closer to you, his movements precise but animated.
Sir Pepper: “This is no time to dilly dally my friend. Princess Chelsea has been taken, and the whole kingdom is in disarray! I was just about to clear this area when…” A stack of dominoes topples, creating a loud clatter He looks over and gestures toward a small horde of wind-up soldiers blocking the path ahead.
Sir Pepper: “Well, you see the predicament.”
He straightens, pointing his key-sword toward the enemy.
Sir Pepper: “Follow me! Or, er… keep up as best you can. Time is of the essence!” With that, Sir Pepper charges forward
