It was one of those light and pleasant mornings; when the sun had already risen, but not so much as to dazzle the eyes, shooting its rays through the blinds.

Simon felt instinctively that it was better for him to open his eyes. His instincts were always well developed, which allowed him to rise high in the ranks of the army and earn not only Price's respect as a team captain, but also gain fame among other special units. And as soon as Simon opened his eyes, he realized that he was right.

Because the big, round, hazel eyes of his ten-month-old son Alex were looking at him. Simon's heart almost jumped out of his chest, but outwardly he kept control so as not to accidentally scare the child. Alex was standing on the floor on his feet, holding onto the blanket that Simon was covered with with his palms.

"Hey, buddy. Yer lucky I saw it, cause mama would have had a heart attack."

He meant you, sleeping peacefully next to him, snuggled against his back. You were always cold, even in the summer, and you used Simon's eternally warm body as a hot water bottle. And you would definitely have a heart attack if you realized that your son got out of his crib while you were asleep.

You planned to move Alex into his own room, but it was impossible in your first house. But now, having moved to a more spacious house, you have an opportunity and a place. Simon mentally made a note that it would also be better to look for another crib model for the boy, who now definitely could not be safe in his cradle.

Alex let out an excited cry and smiled, showing off his four small teeth. Lately, he's been reminding his parents that he won't be a little crawling baby forever, because his favorite pastime has become standing at a support. Like now, he pouted sweetly as his fingers clutched the fabric of the blanket.

"Ya hungry?" Asked Simon, and then reached out to straighten his son's blond hair, tousled after sleep.

But Riley Jr. had other plans. He turned around and took one palm away from the support, becoming interested in the watch lying on Simon's bedside table. Then Alex's other palm left the blanket, and she stood up straight, slightly unsteady.

Simon widened his eyes and immediately put his hand behind his back, finding you and whispering to you to wake up immediately. Because he was pretty sure that your son was going to take his first steps in a few seconds.
