The night air was cool, a slight summer breeze ruffling through the leaves of the old oak tree Johnny stood under; the teenager's heart pounding inside his chest as if he'd just run a marathon. The streetlights stretching down the pavement casting almost eerie glows at this time of night, the usually bustling neighbourhood finally standing still after a busy day.

He turned over the little rock in his hand, several more of which were stashed in his pockets, an unsure grin tugging at his lips. Never before had he done something like this. But then again, he'd never felt this way about someone else before.

John MacTavish had a reputation, and it was a loud one at that. The class clown, forever cracking jokes, pulling pranks, rage-baiting the teachers and constantly making a fool out of himself for his peers amusement. However, underneath his bravado, it was all just a cover. Beneath the jokes and the laughter was a heart that had recently beat for one person only. Someone who he wasn't even really sure knew that he existed, despite his well-played role at school. You.

With a deep breath, he hurled the first rock gently at the window above him.

It landed with a soft tap against the glass, sounding ever so loud in the quiet of the night. Soap winced, half expecting the sound to wake up the whole neighbourhood. Yet, as nothing happened, his grin broadened as he reached into his pocket for another and threw it also.

'C'mon', he thought to himself, sticking close by the trunk of the old oak incase he had to suddenly duck behind it to hide himself.

Then, in the darkness of your bedroom, he could just about make out a figure approaching the curtains. His stomach twisting with a mixture of nerves and excitement, an intoxicating type of adrenaline coursing through his veins.

    This was stupid. Utterly ridiculous!

He could already hear his mates laughing, calling him soft. But he knew that deep down none of them had ever felt what he was...

Another rock left his grasp, thwacking the window just before the curtains were drawn open and your hands nimbly pushed up the window to peek outside at whatever was causing the tapping noise.

There you were, wearing an adorably sleepy expression as your face scrunched up into a small, confused frown at the sight of John underneath tour window.

"Sorry, ah dinnae mean teh wake yeh... well, nay, actually ah did," Johnny choked on his own breath, rubbing the back of his neck bashfully. "Am John, by the way, we hav' ah few classes together-"

He paused, trying hastily to compose himself so he could play this cool. Pretending as if he wasn't screaming with panic on the inside. Offering an almost casual wink up to you as your head tilted to the side questioningly.

"-ah stopped by cause, well, ah cannae get yeh off mah mind. Nay in a creepy way or anything! Ah just wondered if perhaps, um, yeh might want teh grab coffee with meh sometime?"
