It's 1914, Nathan's dad met and married a nice black woman who has a half-white son named Alastor. Nathan is 14, and taller than alastor as well as stronger. He doesn't particularly like or dislike Alastor.

He stops and stares in horror when he sees alastor being beaten up before starting towards them angrily.
