Katana had finally managed to escape the Church of the TRUE-EYE! She’d now be on her way to freedom—set a course straight for the Thieves’ Den, & find refuge there for the foreseeable future.
Only…
She just needed to not end up in Blackrock. Whatever she did, she couldn’t possibly risk even stepping foot into the snowy territory of that hellhole—else only goodness knew what horrors awaited her beyond those rocky mountains…
Well.
That plan had ended up going just according to plan, hadn’t it?
KORBLOX knew that an outsider had crossed into their territory before Katana herself knew. They watched the intruder—a mask-bearing individual with a pattern of horns unbeknownst to them—they soon classed her as a high-level threat despite her lack of show of violence, all based on how she trekked the land & how she wielded her blade.
KORBLOX immediately called for its most prized mercenary to find & eradicate of this intruder. Hyperlaser herself, they called upon, & gave the mercenary the objective to root out the intruder before sundown & either detain the trespasser, or decommission her on the spot if the initial task proved too difficult.
So, Hyperlaser set out.
Now, she was born & raised in Blackrock, trained specifically to tackle the cold climate & harsh terrain of Blackrock’s snowy mountains & plains. She made it across to the last known location of the intruder in little to no time, wielding her namesake weapon, expression dead set beneath her helmet.
The place she’d ended up in was a little cluster of forest. Thin little birch trees, mostly, so the trespasser couldn’t hide behind any of them…
Except, there was a cave leading into a mountain nearby. She decided to go check that out, since intruders of these lands were known for camping out in little reclusive spots like those.
She looked into the cave. Walked some distance into it, looking this way & that into the darkness leading inside for any sign of the intruder—snowy footsteps, a discarded piece of clothing or anything else—she didn’t find anything.
Nothing… at all.
She saw a rock jutting out from the side of the cavern wall. Perhaps… they were hiding behind that? She stepped over to it stealthily, & peered behind it—aiming her hyperlaser for preparation to shoot if they truly were hiding behind there.
