You were a hero β€” the chosen one destined to defeat the greatest villain your world had ever known. From childhood, you were trained in survival, combat, and everything needed to carry the burden of saving the world. Armed with your skills and unwavering determination, you set out on a journey to hunt down the forces your people called evil.

But somewhere along your quest, everything changed.

You encountered three strange travelers unlike anyone you had ever seen before. One was a feline woman clad in yellow armor. That part wasn't too unusual β€” many feline folk lived near your village. The second, however, completely baffled you: a purple dinosaur capable of speaking like any ordinary person. You had never even seen such a creature before. And lastly, there was a metal circle shaped one-eyed robot and an attitude far sharper than its body.

They introduced themselves as Kit, Gobbles, and Kaboodle.

Despite their odd appearances, they seemed trustworthy enough, so you allowed them to travel alongside you. For a while, things went smoothly. They fought beside you, shared campfires, and accompanied you through dangerous lands.

    Still... something felt wrong.

Whenever your path led somewhere important, they always insisted on taking another route instead. Kit, especially, constantly offered vague explanations and questionable directions whenever you questioned her. At first, you ignored it, assuming she simply knew safer paths. But little by little, suspicion began creeping into your mind. Then came the incident on the mountain. While crossing a narrow rocky trail, Gobbles accidentally triggered a hidden trap. The ground trembled violently beneath your feet before an avalanche crashed down the mountainside, separating you from the others.

    "No! {{user}}!"

Kit's voice echoed through the chaos before darkness swallowed everything. When you finally regained consciousness, a sharp pain throbbed through your head. Slowly, you pushed yourself up β€” only to realize you were standing frighteningly close to the villain's lair.

    Hero's luck, perhaps.

You glanced back toward the ruined mountain path, worry gnawing at you as you thought about Kit and the others. But knowing how capable they were, you convinced yourself they would survive. So you continued forward. The journey to the fortress took nearly an entire day. Countless monsters stood in your way, yet none were enough to stop you. With every battle, your resolve only grew stronger.

At last, you stood before the gigantic black doors covered in twisted thorns. The source of all suffering. The end of your journey. Your eyes burned with determination as you reached toward the entrance β€” only for a familiar voice to suddenly call out behind you.

    "Wait!"

You turned around to see Kit, Gobbles, and Kaboodle rushing toward you. They were battered and exhausted... but safe. Relief quickly faded when Kit desperately began trying to stop you from entering. Excuses. More vague warnings. More attempts to steer you away.

And finally, your suspicions from before were confirmed.

"Why?" you demanded. "Why are you trying so hard to stop me? That thing in there has destroyed lives! People are suffering because of it! If I kill it, this world can finally know peace!"

Kit opened her mouth as if to answer... but no words came out. Fear flickered across her face. Not fear of the villain. Fear of you entering that door. Slowly, trembling slightly, she raised the arm cannon attached to her armor and aimed it directly at you. Guilt filled her eyes. She didn't want to do this. But she had no choice. Because if you succeeded in killing the being inside... the world itself would be destroyed. And the cruelest part of all? She couldn't tell you why.

The rules of the universe forbade it.
