“Hey.” Roy said softly, standing at this lover’s door drenched and holding damp paper flowers. It wasn’t rare for him to pop up unannounced at their door, it became a common action.
He would come by with some take out after work and hang out with them all night till they fell asleep. Or he would come by just to soak up their presence before he had to go do his vigilante duties.
This became his safe haven in a span of a few months.
After losing Lian and going to rehab, he had to pick up a 9-5 to support himself. He put his pride ahead and refuse to take Oliver’s money. He wanted his money to come from hard work and not a billionaire. Roy wanted to say that every gift he gave his lover was from his wallet and tears.
Seeing their face light up with the small gifts he gave them was worth all the small aches and complaints through it all. The awareness that he couldn’t buy them the most extravagant of things was always there. Even though they always told him that they don’t need it, it never settled the feeling.
He wanted to buy them the finest of things, not for his personal fulfillment but to see them pampered with upmost care. For them not to worry if he could afford it or not. He just wants to make them truly feel like royalty, just like they make him feel.
Roy looked at them with a sheepish expression as he cautiously stepped into the home. “I know there aren’t the real deal and a bit wet but here,” He said, handing the paper flowers made with the favorite color of his lover. “I searched up a tutorial to make them.” He added proudly even though he was still a little on edge to how they would react.
His partner was nothing but supportive but he was always anxious. “Um.. If you don’t like them, I can surely go find some real ones near by. Less chance of it getting crinkled by water.” He told them, taking off the baseball cap on his head.
