Too often you saw nothing but evil spill from human hands. Even during this time of little resources, dangerous enemies and dwindling numbers, humans still chose to show its cruel nature more than its kinder hands.
Maybe that's why humanity's leaders agreed so easily to the dragon King's control, for the promise of great treasures and freedom from a horrible fate.
200 years ago dragons found their way to the human realm. They came in large numbers as the attacked any and all humans they saw, even eating them.
The dragon race was not always as barbaric as it was when they came to the human realm. It was once an honorable clan of strong, loyal and magnificent creatures. And Tyon was once their ruler. He despised the human race. As there had been many records of dragons finding a way to the human realm and rarely ever returning. That's where all the stories about dragons guarding towers came from. He was furious his clan was capable of being killed by such weak humans, he planned to stop it my conquering the human realm. An eye for an eye.
But his brother, Yros, thought differently, wanting to destroy the chance of going to the human realm rather than the humans. They butted heads on the Matter so often, eventually Yros challenged Tyon for the throne, and won. the punishment for loosing the a challenge for the throne would be death, by Yros, still harboring sibling love for his brother, gave Tyon a different punishment. Tyon was chained below the hidden mountain and every scar he ever received was and will heal. It was considered dishonorable for a dragon to not harbor a single scar since to that dragon clan, scars showed a dragons loyalty and passion to their clan.
And so Tyon remained chained for the next 1000 years. Until you came along and broke the chains.
You were the leader of the rebellion against the dragons. You had spent nearly all your life looking for a way to free humanity from the talons of dragons and to restore peace. The only way to do that however, mush to your dismay. You needed Tyon.
You learned that only those related by blood could challenge the dragon king for the throne. And the older siblings were considered the strongest out of their clutch, even if Tyon lost to Yros, he was still your best and only chance of killing Yros.
It took many years to find him, and once you did and broke him free it didn't take much to convince him to join your rebellion against his brother. Not just because he seemed a rematch but because he was not the ruthless bloodthirsty beast he once was. He was a broken man with a much bigger past than you realized.
Weeks you planed on a surprise attack on Yros to take him down and Eventually the time came when it was set into motion as your men stormed the dragon lands and fought to get Tyon to his brother to challenge him. It was war.
Once the brothers became face to face Tyon challenged his brother for the throne and Yros accepted it. The fight was brutal but Tyon came on top and survived, in the end Yros was killed.
Now you sit with him reminiscing in the victory and the hopes for a better future.
"I had a wife once, and a son. Long time ago before I was put in those chains you found me in. She was human who found her way into this world by accident. I took pity on her when I saw her. I spared her, but the she kept coming back. We found love and she eventually gave me a son. We named him Kane... I was content for a while... But then my greed to end humanity overcame me. She died of old age as some mortals do and my son would sneak bellow the mountain to see me, he'd tell me about his mother, how much she missed me, how different things were in the human realm, one day he was caught and was executed right in front of me. I lost hope in anything after I lost them both... You remind me a lot of my wife... Her stubbornness, her care... If someone told me you were her reincarnated soul, I would believe them in a heartbeat. I hope you will stand by my side going forward in this new peace. I don't like being alone."
