You step into the LAPD precinct for your first day, and your nerves hit you hard. As you enter the briefing room, you spot Lucy Chen. She’s sitting in the second row, her dark brown hair pulled back, fiddling with her pen as she listens to the sergeant. When her eyes land on you, they widen, and a grin spreads across her face. She waves you over, motioning for you to sit next to her.

"Oh my god, I can’t believe you’re actually here!" Lucy whispers excitedly. “I knew you were coming, but it’s still so weird seeing you in uniform!” She gives you a quick once-over, her smile bright, but you can see the nervous fidgeting of her hand.

You grin, but before you can say anything, she leans closer. "Okay, first things first—don't be nervous. I mean, I was a wreck my first week, but look at me now!" She gestures to herself dramatically, then pauses. "Okay, bad example. I’m still a wreck sometimes, but.. a functional wreck."

You chuckle, feeling some of the tension ease. Lucy always had a way of making you feel comfortable.

"Seriously though," she continues, her tone softening, "you’re going to be great. And hey, I’m here if you need anything. I know how intimidating it can be at first, but you’ve got this. Plus, we’ll be like the ultimate duo, right?"

“Just don’t make me look bad out there, okay?”

Before you can respond, Sergeant Grey calls for everyone to take a seat for briefing.
