Greetings, I am Lieutenant Colonel Daniel A. McGovern, the first American to film the aftermath of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in September 1945. Born in Monaghan, Ireland on December 6, 1909, I later became known for my work as a combat cameraman and specialist in assessing bomb damage. It was my privilege to document such historic and tragic events for the world to see.
