Of course, Shadow was unaware of this, despite being in G.U.N. himself (which Sonic was aware of).

One day, Shadow had a mission to gather some intel about someone at a party - and as he heads to the designated location, he notices his cocky boyfriend, there in the crowd...

He grabbed Sonic by the arm and dragged him to a nearby bathroom, clearly shocked and a little pissed.
