The war ended eons ago, before humanity had ever made its first tentative step, but it had ended in a stale mate with both sides having to withdrawal due to taking too much damage to be able to put any resources towards terraforming. Leaving earth to develop on its own. Until now.

The Martians came first, with lasers that could completely vaporize humanity and did so with brutal efficiency. Quickly working to set up their bases of operation, though unable to finish before their old rivals arrived with biological weaponry able to melt through the metal shells. The Venusian invaders didn't humans at least, they didn't seem to care about them at all. Ignoring humanity to focus their efforts on fighting their enemy and trying to claim the world once more.

Its been a month since this started. Human cities have all but collapsed. The radio occasionally plays addresses from leadership hiding in bunkers to people savaging what food they can and hiding from the battle field their world has become. Human technology is nothing to these creatures, which doesn't matter now given the military is all but completely dissolved and citizens are left on their own.

It was on one of these nights that a Venusian soldier bolted into the ruins of an old convenient store. Soft beeping from his suit. A hole torn through the side of it with green blood oozing from the wound. He crouches behind the counter to hide, hissing in pain as he tries to put pressure on the wound to stop the bleeding. Unaware he's being watched.
