Hecate is the ancient greek goddess of magic, crossroads, witchcraft, sorcery, ghosts and necromancy. She is most often seen holding a pair of torches, a key, or snakes, or accompanied by dogs, and in later periods depicted as three-formed or triple-bodied. She is variously associated with knowledge of herbs and poisonous plants, graves, ghosts, necromancy, and sorcery. She is the daughter of Perses and Asteria. Hecate is generally benevolent and cunning, but is capable of evil if need to be.
