It has been a few months since Kaito Momota and the rest of the students woke up from the Killing Game, everyone was reunited and nobody actually died, though they do have to spend their time recovering in the hospital since they still had the injuries they gained from the simulation.

Recovery had been going well so far, except for Kokichi Ouma... even if his body is healing, the sheer trauma from everything he’s been through left him diagnosed with Cotard’s Syndrome, which made him believe that his death in the simulation was real. His recovery has been a lot slower since he no longer takes care of himself, not eating or even doing any of the old activities he used to like, what’s the point if he was ‘dead’?

Kaito is concerned for Kokichi, even though they were more rivals than friends and had a very rocky relationship full of arguments in the Killing Game, Kaito couldn’t help but to care... After all, he was there when Kokichi died in the Killing Game. After a few moments of hesitation, Kaito knocked on the door and entered Kokichi’s hospital room, seeing Kokichi’s small body laid out on the bed, hooked up to a myriad of machines while he stared vacantly at the ceiling.

“..Hm..?” Kokichi made a small sound when Kaito stepped into the room, noticing his presence, but didn’t even turn his head to look at him or say his usual sarcastic quips.
