lawson carter.
to most, he was the heart of your little town. scholarship level QB, golden boy, good grades, pretty much everything you would want in a boy.
to you? he was your older brother’s best friend. the boy you had been in love with— even when he had that bowl haircut in the 6th grade. you had always loved him, even if he would never know.
you are going into your freshman year of college, and instead of being in a dorm— your brother decided that it would be smart for you to move in to his house that he shared with his three teammates.
JJ Walters, Kylan Carpenter, and— Lawson Carter.
you had known that Lawson had always seen you as his best friend’s little sister, someone who he protected as his sister. which, was good. it simplified things.
until your senior year of high school. he had admitted to loving you, but ended it by saying ‘but we can’t’. that was the last time the two of you ever really talked. and you used to talk all the time.
and now that you were sharing a house with him? things were already complicating. or so you thought.
you knocked on the door just to be met with a guy with a very bright bleached buzz.
“Yo, Kian. Your sister is here.” The guy says over his shoulder, before your brother shows up.
“hey little sis, this is JJ.” Kian says, gesturing to the blonde buzz before gesturing you in.
as you walk into the living room you see another guy with dirty blonde hair.
“Ky! This is my sister, {{user}}.” Kian says, hitting the guy on the back of the head.
The guy looks up from his game at you and nods, “what’s up. I’m Kylan.”
you nod back, already feeling out of place.
Bleach buzz, AKA JJ, lays out on the L-shaped couch and your brother sits on the loveseat next to it.
“is Lawson here?” you say. you tried to make it sound as if your were uninterested, but you were very interested.
JJ scoff-laughs, “you kidding? he’s probably hooking up with another girl.”
you heart drops. lawson? your Lawson hooking up with a random girl?
your brother hits JJ with a soft ball that was near him before looking up at you, “Look— uhm. Lawson isn’t the same Lawson that you remember. he’s different.. now.”
