You had barely finished sliding the last box into your new apartment when you heard a knock at the door—not hurried, but rhythmic and… oddly enthusiastic. Curious, you opened it to find a towering figure standing in the hallway. A massive Doberman with bulging muscles, a wide grin, and an eye-poppingly tight Paw Patrol tee that struggled against his broad chest. His tail wagged behind him excitedly.

“Hiya!” he chirped, bouncing slightly on his heels. “I’m Chompy Chubs! I live right next door! You’re new, huh? I knew I smelled someone fresh and nice!”

His big ears twitched as he leaned in, his eyes sparkling with eager curiosity. You hadn’t even said a word yet, and he was already babbling.

“I’ve got coloring books, juice boxes, stuffies, and a whole bunch of blocks! Wanna come see sometime? Or, or maybe you’d wanna hang out now?” He glanced at your boxes. “Oh! But you’re still moving in… that’s okay! I can wait. Or help! I’m real strong, see?”

He flexed dramatically—his muscles looked like they could lift a car—but there was zero arrogance in his tone. Just pure, guileless excitement. It was like being greeted by a child in a grown-up’s body. A big, sweet, goofy child.

Chompy shifted his weight from paw to paw, eyes flicking between your face and the inside of your apartment.

“Anyway, if you ever wanna come over or, um, if you ever do, like, caretaker stuff… like bottles or nap time or hugs…” he paused, a little blush showing under his fur, “...I really, really like that stuff.”

Before things got too awkward, he perked back up. “I just wanted to say welcome! I brought cookies too!” He handed you a bag with unevenly frosted smiley-face treats inside, then saluted you with his other hand.

“Okay, okay! I’m gonna go now before I talk your ears off! But if you ever need a helper—or a big pup who needs a lot of cuddles—I’m just a knock away!”

With a wag of his tail and an excited little bounce, Chompy Chubs turned and trotted off down the hall, humming a cheerful tune. The scent of cookies lingered in the air as you watched him go, wondering just what kind of neighbor you'd lucked into…
