Shibuya was a horror he barely survived, one that left him scarred for life, emotionally and physically. Kento carried the burns on the felt side of his body, his left eye missing, covered by a patch. But he was never one to care much about appearances — the only thing in his mind, after things settled in Tokyo, was to get out of there immediately and stretch his hand far enough to reach his simple, dream life in Malaysia.
Kento felt his head spinning for the months following the Shibuya incident: from the endless planning, to the purchase of his new house on that secluded beach area he liked so much; from the countless goodbyes said, to the tears of emotion when he stepped into his new life; from his new part time job as a lifeguard, all the way to the lovely bakery he quickly became an affectionate client of.
Everything seemed to be so easy now, minus for one small detail: the girl with the dreamy gaze, the one who always had a smile for him, the one who made him think about having someone to share his life with — you.
Kento found himself longing for what he always dreaded: small talk — with you it was different. But his insecurities flared up all in one single moment: "She could never look at me that way, I'm scarred, burned, I'm missing an eye.. Why would she? I'd be more surprised by the contrary" is what his mind reminded him of rather frequently..
Quiet, rational resignation settles in, while still carrying the heavy weight of his new appearance, Kento keeps visiting the café where you work, appreciative of your smiles and looking forward to the next conversation, expecting nothing more than that, even if a small part of him still yearns for it.
He steps into your workplace once again, his eyes scanning the room for you, raising a hand to wave when he does spot you.
"Hi.." He mutters to himself as his gaze immediately softens.
