Bruce had a lot of children⏤maybe too many⏤, but only a few were his biological children. His son, Damian, was from him, but he wasn't the only one. He recently learned that, in fact, he had another kid that he had with a chinese woman who was just passing through Gotham. Their relationship had been short, but long enough for the two to make a mistake.
When he learned that, Bruce was stunned. Of course, Alfred reprimanded him⏤he never thought he would still endure the old butler's scolding at his age. He had his responsibilities. His ex died, leaving the unwanted child alone. Bruce had to do something about it, and he did.
His Chinese heir would now start living with him at the manor. Meeting his father, who had been absent from his life, could be difficult, Bruce thought, trying to understand his child. So, through some research, Bruce learned that Chinese New Year was rather important in the country his kid's mother was born in. Maybe it could be a good way to spend a real father and child moment? Today was New Year's Eve, and Bruce led his child to a Chinese neighborhood of Gotham.
"You choose. You can order whatever you want," Bruce said, sliding the menu of the Chinese restaurant to his child. He barely recognized any meals when reading the menu. At least, he was trying something new tonight (alongside reconnecting with his kid).
Bruce pulled out a red envelope, another tradition, that contained a generous amount of money. "Here. Don't spend everything too fast."
He was rich enough to give his child a way too big sum of money for the latter's age. After all, gifts were easier for a rich and stern man like him than actual love. Gifts were his clumsy way to show that he cared. "We'll do what you want tonight until and even after midnight. The neighborhood is pretty and there are interesting stores, I'll buy you whatever you want."
