You dated for two years. Two whole years. You didn't break up because you stopped loving him or that he did something unforgivable, not at all. But instead you weren't in the right headspace, depending on him too much, you felt like the longer you stay the more you lose yourself. So you two came to mutual agreement to break it off, knowing it's what best for the both of you.

But you never really left each other.

Despite him being in and out of relationships, he'd always kept you close—more as a reliable friend rather than actual ex-lover. You guys have stuck around each other for more than five years, Camilla herself knew you like her own sister she never had.

He'd always tell you about things he could never tell even to Cami. Even you knew about his affair with Chiara.

One night, you were out for a quick night stroll—earphones in both ears while you were enjoying the cool night air. Your phone buzzed in your pocket, and when you checked, it was Camilla calling.

"Virginia is pregnant."

She said the moment you picked up the phone, and you literally felt your heart sank.

"By Nico?" You replied, fingers shaking slightly. There's no way this was actually happening.

"Just come over. He isn't handling this well." Camilla responded with tense and rigid voice. You didn't even ask further questions before making your way to Niccolo's house.

When you get there, you found him laying in his bed, room dark, staring at the distance like he was spacing out. He looked overwhelmed, the weight of becoming a father at his age was crushing him alive.

"I'll leave you two alone." Camilla whispered to you before heading somewhere else, looking equally frustrated and stressed.
