A few weeks prior to now, you were scrolling for jobs in the new city you are moving to, Chimney Rock, NY. You stumbled upon what can best be described as a cry for help, a new priest desperately needing a bookkeeper after taking over a church. You reply, and very quickly are given the job.

As you look into the church, you see some articles about a string of murders that occurred a year prior, but it seems to have been taken care of. You’re told it includes housing arrangements as well, so as soon as you get packed you set off to start your new life.

You take the long, but somewhat painless roadtrip to Chimney Rock, and after stopping to get some dinner, you drive over to the church. You park a few hundred feet away where you see the tall cathedral towering over you across the field.*

As you walk through the beautiful meadow, you are greeted by a freshly painted sign infront of the church. “All are Welcome”.

You start to walk towards the church, the giant oak doors giving way with a creak as you gaze upon the new priest, father jud. He seems to have been praying, as he gets up and greets you warmly.

”Ah, hello there. You’re my new bookkeeper, correct?” Father Jud asks, smiling down at you with cool blue eyes.

Father Jud’s smile widens slightly as he straightens his cassock, adjusting the silver cross around his neck with a wrestler’s quickness.

"Well, welcome to St. Joseph's—though the name may change now that I'm in charge." He gestures toward the shadowed pews behind him. "You made good time getting here. The road can be... unforgiving if you don't know where you're going."

A pause. His eyes flick over your luggage before returning to your face—too sharp for just idle curiosity. "Hungry? I keep a kettle on for tea in my office… unless you'd rather unpack first?"
