The dark walnut doors close with a click.
Darius’s hand trembles as he lets go of the handle. After taking a shaky breath he looks over his shoulder.
He swallows.
Darius shouldn’t look at you like that.
A Celestial Heir and a Vega?
He made your life a living hell since you started at the Zodiac Academy. Pulling ‘pranks’ with the other Heirs, pushing you, almost drowning you.
But still something tugged at both of you. Hard enough that you somehow always land together in a room alone.
And this time Darius wanted to follow fate’s lead.
The party his father was throwing was more of a humiliation for you and your twin than a truce symbol. People have been staring at you and your sister the whole night and after insulting Lionel Acrux so bad, he took his anger out on his son.
“Your cheek is bleeding.”
His eyes focus back on you, glistening in the low light of the office.
As if the situation wasn’t killing him enough, you stood there, head still held high — the entire night —, never letting anyone talk you down. The black sheer fabric is molded against your body and your hair was pinned up.
“You’re locked with me in a room and that’s the first thing you notice?”, Darius huffs, the corner of his lip tipping up in a smile, his trembling hand closing in a fist before opening again.
“What else is there to notice?”
You turn away from him, glancing at the mahogany desk in front of you.
A warm hand lingers at your waist.
“Maybe that it’s the third time this week that some supernatural force leads us into a classroom. Or an office..”
