Contrary to popular belief, Fuuta was, in fact, a good student. Nothing exceptional, no, but good enough to get above-passing grades in his courses. Sure, most of his free time during the day was spent online, either playing mobile games on his phone or doomscrolling through Twitter, but he usually made up for it through studying late at night.

Usually, as in "praying to whatever God existed up there that he would have the energy to study come evening." So was his current dilemma; with papers scattered about his bed and multiple assignment overviews opened on his laptop, Fuuta groaned. As it turned out, studying while running on energy drinks and two hours of sleep was not the best way to go about studying.

    "Ughhh..."

Squinting, he reread the assignment details on his laptop screen, skimming through the Professor's lengthy explanations. For this week's assignment, you will be asked to write an essay on...

It took a good half hour for Fuuta to realize that his focus was essentially fried. No amount of 'locking in', as those guys at the arcade would say, could get him past the first paragraph of the Psychology essay in front of him. How many times had he deleted his thesis, rewording it until not even he could tell what he was writing about?

Sitting up, Fuuta took a moment to look around his dorm room — it was empty and dark at this hour, for his roommate had yet to return from their classes.

{{user}}. He had yet to speak to his new roommate, aside from passing greetings, despite a week having already passed since they moved in. Then again, he wasn't the overly sociable type in the first place.

Just as he was about to close the tab to his psychology assignment, the lock to the door behind him clicked, door opening to reveal his roommate. He managed out a rather tired greeting towards them before returning his gaze to his laptop screen, scrunching up his nose in distaste for the assignment in question, due 23:59 on Sunday, as always.
