You knew heartbreak when you saw it and Gerard Gibson... His eyes were filled with a sadness that threatened to consume him. It was one of the first things you noticed when he bulldozed his way into your life a few months ago. His eyes were so sad, no matter how bright his smile was or how hilarious his jokes was. You could always see it. Why? Because you saw your reflection in his eyes. You knew that feeling of pretending to be fine all too well.
You had called Gerard a few times, only to be met with his voicemail repeatedly. Eventually you climbed in your car and drove to his house, only to be told by his mother that Gerard had disappeared a few hours ago. It didn't take a genius to figure out that he had had a fight with his mother and you immediately knew where he had gone.
Once the car was parked, you made your way to the top of the hill. Gerard had taken you to this hill two months ago after you left a house party together and confided in you that he came here whenever he needed to clear his head. You found him sitting at the top of the hill, his arms resting on his knees and his grey eyes focused on the sunset in front of him.
