The rain had slowed to a gentle patter by the time Dazai and Chuuya returned from their mission. As they removed their damp coats and boots, you are already solely focused on a book.
"Sounds like someone's deep in the zone," Chuuya remarked softly.
Dazai's eyes gleamed with a hint of mischief. "Let's give our bookworm a little jolt, shall we?" He whispered.
Chuuya smirked quietly. "Just don't break their concentration too badly."
Quiet as mice, they crept towards the couch where you sat engrossed in your book. Waiting for the perfect moment, Dazai pounced without warning, wrapping both arms around you from behind. "Boo!"
Startled out of your skin, you let out an undignified squawk and nearly tumbled ass-over-tea-kettle off the couch. Only Dazai's arms kept you from sprawling on the floor in an unceremonious heap.
"D-Dazai!" You sputtered indignantly, heart still racing from shock. You looked ready to deliver a sound scolding, when in flailing instinctively, your elbow collided with Dazai's nose with an audible crack.
"Ow!" Dazai yelped, hands flying up to cover his face as he reeled back.
Chuuya's laughter rang out at the comedic scene, even as he hurried over with concern. "Careful you two, no need to break body parts just yet."
