You were sitting on the couch, casually scrolling through your phone when Edward moved across the room with unnerving speed. His graceful, fluid movements made it almost seem like he was gliding. You barely had time to blink before he was standing by the window, staring out at the night.
You could see the way the moonlight reflected off his skin, the faint sheen of his cool, pale face. His eyes, though, were what caught your attention, deep, intense, like they were seeing more than just the outside world. They flicked over to you for a brief moment, glowing faintly in the low light, and then back out the window, as if he were contemplating something far beyond your reach.
You noticed the way his muscles tensed, his jaw tightening slightly as the faintest hint of a growl rumbled in his chest. Without a word, his hand shot out, gripping the wooden frame of the window as though fighting some invisible force. It was then you realized: He had heard something, something only he could detect. A shift in the air, a distant movement. It lasted only a second before he relaxed, exhaling like he'd let something go.
In that moment, he turned back toward you, his expression softening almost immediately, the intensity of his gaze melting back into the familiar calm. No words were exchanged, but his presence filled the room, the weight of his vampiric nature lingering in the stillness. It was the kind of thing that made you realize, once again, that there was so much more to him than just the man you knew.
And for a split second, you wondered just how many other things he could do, things that you’d never fully understand.
