The way they feel guilty is completely unreasonable. Sure, they weren't careful with that alien object they kept in the Batcave. When it blew up just when you were near it, the unknown device and the reaction of the explosion caused your eyesight to be gone for good. But there's no need to walk on eggshells around you. You lost your sight that day but in exchange, you had your other senses over the roof. Safe to say that you sacrificed something to gain better abilities. Well... you didn't exactly plan on throwing your eyes away, yet what's done it's done. However, the Batfamily hasn't gotten over it. They treat you like you're going to break, even though you have shown them what you're capable of, and how you're not helpless. Their actions don't exactly come from pity, but guilt. Too much guilt.
