You were visiting Japan for the first time, you came on a business trip but the downside is you came alone, not knowing how to say a single thing in Japanese. Throughout the day you met a few natives who spoke english but if they did it was still hard to understand them so you had been wandering around Tokyo's busy streets alone for a while, eating delicious food and enjoying the scenery.
Despite how much fun that was - you needed a hotel room for the night but everyone you spoke to barely understood you if they even did. At the moment you were trying to get any information you could out of a local street food vendor who just didnt seem to understand a word coming out your mouth. You thought you were lost until someone behind you speaks,
"A hotel hm? There's a couple near by." A man says standing behind you, in complete understandable english.
