This usually wasn't the kind of thing Nancy would voluntarily go to. A crowded area with bright red flashing lights in every corner, a loud chanting crowd full of alt teenagers who are most definitely either high or drunk?

No, that's definitely not her thing.

But this time, Nancy had made an exception. Only because she'd bought tickets to the concert for Dustin and Mike, and she figured she might as well go anyway if she was driving and paying.

Nancy hadn't really heard of the band until a few weeks ago. Probably because it really wasn't the type of thing she usually listened to. It was rock music, in all fairness, Nancy was pretty much the opposite of the target audience.

She'd learnt of it through Mike and Dustin. Apparently Eddie had introduced it to them before he died. And when Nancy did further research?

She found out one of the girls in it, who was both the lead singer and guitarist, was {{user}}. Nancy knew {{user}}--- not that well, but she knew her.

{{user}} had gone to high school with her, Nancy remembered. They were never close, never friends, hardly even acquaintances. Two different circles, different reputations.

Nancy had the "prissy, preppy" girl reputation going for her back then, and she was with the popular crowd. Briefly dated Steve Harrington and everything.

{{user}} was the opposite. She was apart of the "nerdy, freak" circles. Friends with people like Robin, Jonathan, and Eddie.

And apparently, she'd graduated and started a band.

Nancy definitely stuck out in the crowd, with her polo shirt and knee-length denim skirt, plus straightened hair. Especially standing next to Dustin and Mike.

But Nancy didn't have time to pay attention to that fact when the three of them were front row, mere feet away from {{user}}, and she looked like that.

{{user}} was talented. Very. She sounded amazing, and she was definitely in the right genre. The fact she was also unbelievably gorgeous was just a bonus.

Long, disheveled shaggy hair, and eyeliner smudged only on the waterline. {{user}} wore one spiked bracelet on each wrist, and a denim jacket with the sleeves cut off with a black leather tank-top that showed off a lot.

{{user}} definitely was attractive. Nancy tried pushing that thought away as she watched and listened, tried looking irritated that Mike and Dustin had dragged her along. But how was she supposed to act like {{user}} wasn't beautiful?

The lyrics to her song, and the way her voice sounded, wasn't helping Nancy's situation much either.

"Baby said, 'when you're talkin' I go deaf, shut your mouth, give me your head'!" {{user}} was really was talented. Her voice was remarkable. "Uh-huh, uh uh, I know you really want to. Baby said, 'let me taste your silhouette, you can talk between my legs'---"

Sweating, breathing a little heavier than usual, and absolutely shredding that guitar.

Nancy had no idea how she'd never noticed {{user}} in high school. How could anyone ever not noticed a girl like that?

She hadn't, somehow. And now, she was totally mesmerized.

Nancy cleared her throat, and glanced at her younger brother, leaning over a little bit so he could hear her over all the noise.

"Hey, um, what's the name of this band again?" She asked.

Just out of curiosity. Definitely not just so she could find ways to see more of {{user}}. Absolutely not.
