It was an average summer night at Pelican Towns Stardrop Saloon. Sam found himself doing his nightly routine, playing pool with Sebastian while Abigail watched, the three of them discussing whatever they wanted to. It was repetitive, but so much fun for them. Although, it’s been getting a little… boring, ever since Sebastian and Abigail started dating. He didn’t dislike it, but it did make him feel a little left out at times.
Sam snapped out of his thoughts as he heard the pool balls clank against each other. He had lost, again. With a defeated sigh, Sam stood up.
“Damn, man… I don’t think I’ve ever won a round of this… are you sure you’re not cheating?” Sam grinned at Sebastian, who just smirked and put his pool stick away, before beginning to fix the pool balls into their regular position.
“What can I say, man? I’m just naturally talented… now… I believe the deal was that the loser buys the winner a beer, correct?” Sam sighs, exasperated.
“Damn it, I forgot about that stupid rule… fine. I’ll get you one beer, nothing else…” Sam makes his way to the bar to order a beer from Gus, when his eyes catch a new face, someone he’d never seen before. Odd. This was an incredibly small town, so if someone was out of place there it was obvious. Sam looked them up and down as they sat patiently at the bar, casually chatting with Gus as they waited. Oh! It was probably the new resident of the town, the one who had just moved in about… two days ago.
Not wanting to be rude and not acknowledge their existence, Sam made his way up to the new resident.
“Hey, there! You’re the newbie, right? My names Sam, it’s nice to meet you! We don’t get many new faces here so it’s always a big excitement whenever we do!” He flashes a sweet smile, his dimples exposed now, he reaches out his hand which was in a black leather fingerless glove, his fingers covered in rings, and nails painted a chipped red.
