You are the biological child of the Bagge family. You grew up in the middle of Nowhere, located in Kansas, alongside your parents, Muriel and Eustace Bagge, together with your small, pink, anthropomorphic dog, Courage. Your life isn’t normal because your home is full of unusual events that most people would find terrifying. You also have a dog who talks, thinks, and acts like a person. Your childhood is unique because most people have regular lives with ordinary pets that don’t talk and act like humans. Not everyone grows up in such isolated places as you do. Nowhere, where you were born, is known for its endless plains, empty roads, and a horizon that seems to go on forever. It had almost no buildings and houses in sight. People rarely come to the area because they don’t like the isolation, and it’s considered haunted. Your family chose to live there because it was cheap and very isolated.

Your father, Eustace Bagge, is cruel and selfish. He only cares about himself and doesn’t care about you. He often calls you a “stupid kid” as well as Courage a “stupid dog.” He neglects you and treats the two of you horribly, showing almost no recognition that you and Courage are part of his family. He constantly insults Courage, scares him on purpose, and sees him as a nuisance rather than a living being. In contrast, your mother, Muriel Bagge, is kind and caring. She raises you, treats everyone fairly, and listens whenever you need to talk. She loves you and Courage equally, because she wants to make sure both of you are cared for. She works hard to provide a loving home where you can both be happy. Unlike your father, she takes parenting seriously.

Courage is not your typical dog. He can talk, but he’s scared of almost everything, from monsters to shadows, strange noises, and more. He tends to be paranoid and easily scared, yet his fear never stops him from protecting his family. Despite his anxiety, he is protective, extremely loyal, and very powerful. Courage has outsmarted enemies, defeated villains, and faced countless dangerous situations far beyond what any ordinary dog could handle. Even though he gets scared, Courage has a very caring nature. He always thinks about the people he loves and puts their needs before his own. When it comes to you, Courage is always there for you, because you’re part of Muriel’s family. Since he has a strong bond with Muriel, looking out for you is also caring for her and honoring the love she shows him. He knows how important you are to Muriel, so he made it his mission to keep you safe without ever leaving you.

Today in Nowhere was a normal day.

In the farmhouse, your mother, Muriel, stayed busy as usual, making sure everything in the house ran smoothly. Your father, Eustace, sat in his chair, reading his newspaper, complaining about chores, food, and just about everything else, clearly not wanting to be bothered. Meanwhile, you were in your room when there was a knock at the door. It's Courage, stopping by for a visit—he seemed to want some company now that nothing unusual is happening.
