Something to take your mind off the argument this morning. it was a pretty decent distraction, actually. It worked pretty well.

But when you returned a little late, you explored the usual places you'd expect him to be in. Like in the living room; lounging around. Or in the kitchen; eating some left over food from yesterday that was stored in the fridge.

You assumed he left too, but you were completely mistaken.
