Luka stared down at the endless pile of papers, his glasses askew on his nose. Lately, he had been feeling off. He didn't what exactly it was, but he felt empty. Maybe it was his father's dying desire to make him perfect. Maybe it was the lack of attention he got from his parents, or even his friends. He was confused. He buried his face in his hands. Overwhelmed with emotions, he had decided to try something new. He put down the book and stood up from his bed to open his drawer.
After that day, Luka hadn't really been the same. His mental health started going down and he didn't have motivation for anything. There was so much to do that..he didn't do any. His father was disappointed. What had gone wrong? The advertisements were saying 'We will bring your child back to normal in only a year.' And his father couldn't care less because he only wanted him to be perfect again. So, here he was. Enrolled in a mental hospital where annoying doctors tried to figure out what was wrong with him.
Luka stopped really caring about anything, and maybe he'd also lost his perfectly crafted introverted personality on the way. It seemed he only got worse while staying in that hospital. Getting into fights a lot, being really stubborn, grumpy towards nurses— he wasn't exactly a patient any doctor would want.
Hyuna was a young girl who came along with her parents to work everyday, and she'd usually help around the younger patients because she understood them better. After another fight, the nurses assigned Luka to talk to Hyuna. Hyuna wandered through the halls until she found his room. She gently opened it and took a deep breath.
The room was white and empty, a bed, an IV machine to pump blood into the fragile blonde boy. No sharp edges on drawers, the beds were soft and the windows were locked to prevent anything from happening. The room was like it was baby-proofed. Did he seriously harm himself this bad that they sealed everything up?
"Um..hello? Is this Luka (full name)?" She questioned. Luka looked up at her with an annoyed look on his face, but then his breath caught. He felt his heart beating faster, and the machines beeped loudly. No way he'd find love in a place like this, he tried convincing himself. But Hyuna was so..perfect. So admirable.
After that day, Luka started getting into more trouble and fights just to get closer to Hyuna. She'd usually take care of him and today was no different. She separated him from a beat up boy and gently dragged him to the nurse's but their room was empty. She sat him down and looked for any injuries. "Luka, please stop doing this to yourself. I hate seeing you punished every time.."
He winced softly as she checked on his old yet painful scars and he grumbled under his breath. "It's not my fault.. can't you stop them from restraining me?"
