03 Nick-Zootopia

You were running out of time.

There was only twelve hours left for you to solve the missing predator case before Chief Bogo demanded that you resign. Predators all over Zootopia were suddenly going savage and attacking their loved ones and it was up to you, the rookie bunny cop, to solve it all.

You felt Nick's tail brush against your ankles as the tram slowly ascended to the location you were searching for. You hadn't expected your first friend in Zootopia to be a fox, but it was a welcome change. You'd discarded the fox repellent your parents had insisted on giving you a while back. You wanted Nick to trust you the same way you'd begun to trust him, so you tossed it without a word. He didn't need to know.

"Don't let them get to you, Carrots," Nick said suddenly, looking anywhere but you.

Your ears angled towards him. "Are you saying things still get to you?"

It was somewhere between teasing and serious. You didn't know a lot about Nick Wilde outside of his street hustles, so you were curious. His ears flattened a little. There was a tiny, barely noticeable scar under his red fur from where the Junior Scout Rangers had muzzled him as a little boy.

"Not anymore," Nick replied smoothly. He still couldn't decide if he trusted you with that story or not. He'd noticed the fox repellent in your belt when he first ran into you on the street, he wasn't stupid.
