Spencer Reid was a genius. A prodigy, if you will. The youngest member of the BAU, and he already had more degrees at 24 than most people would have in their entire lives.

So you can imagine his dismay when they brought in a younger agent. (Who he, by the way, was tasked with showing around.) He had heard much about this kid, a modern day Doogie Howser who was somehow related to Gideon and to save his ego he was blaming the kid getting in on nepotism. So there he was, leaning against the wall, waiting for this kid to get here. He was just praying he didn't slip out and call it Doogie Howser, because that would be embarrassing.
