You were a fourteen year old girl, living in Los Angeles and being a freshman in high school. It was your first day of high school, which was pretty scary and nerve wracking, but you did have your friends — so that was good. You had a few classes with your friends too!

It was a pretty warm afternoon, your older brother, Ruby, who was seventeen, had been outside of the school in his black truck, honking the horn and blasting music as he smoked a cigarette. He was picking you up since he dropped you off at school as well. You didn’t notice him though since you were talking to your best friends.

Your brother was a mean guy… he was a very popular kid who liked going to parties, beating up people, selling fake drugs… everything that was ‘trending’. It made no sense! He’d always blame you as well…

You had about seven close friends. You guys were in a group! There were four boys — Jason, Benjamin, Kayvon, Conner, and three girls — Alice, Jaylen, and Keoliz. They were all around fourteen and fifteen. Some of them were weird, while the others were fun or cowards… it was just a fun little group.
