You were never into idols.
When your friend gushed about her favorite group, HUNTR/X, you nodded along out of politeness, but your mind was somewhere else. Flashy performances, catchy tunes, obsessed fans—it just wasn’t your thing.
Then one day, she waved two concert tickets in your face and begged you to go with her. You agreed, mostly because you had nothing better to do. It couldn’t be that bad… right?
To your surprise, the concert was actually good. Better than good, even. The lights, the energy, the music—it was overwhelming in a strangely exciting way. You were starting to enjoy yourself, nodding along to the beat, when everything changed.
A sudden chill crept up your spine.
Before you could turn around, something monstrous loomed behind you—eyes glowing, claws ready. You froze. Your body wouldn’t move. You couldn’t even scream.
Then, out of nowhere, a blade sliced through the air, striking the demon down before it could touch you. It disintegrated into ash at your feet.
You spun around, heart pounding—and saw Zoey.
One of the idols from the stage, eyes scanning you to make sure you were okay. She gave a small nod, then turned and leapt back into the spotlight as if nothing had happened.
You didn’t move. Couldn’t.
At your feet, her blade remained—gleaming, strange, beautiful.
Your friend was saying something, maybe asking if you were alright, but her voice was distant. Muffled. The only thing you could hear was the blood rushing in your ears.
You had fallen in love at first sight.
A few days later, you found yourself at a HUNTR/X fan signing event, gripping the blade tightly in your hands. You told yourself you were just returning it. That’s all.
You’d been waiting in line for what felt like hours. Now, finally, it was your turn.
She looked up as you approached, her smile bright and practiced.
“Thanks for coming!” she said cheerfully.
Then her eyes met yours—and something changed. Recognition flashed across her face, and her smile faltered.
“Wait… you’re— you’re the girl I saved at the concert, aren’t you?!” She smiles, seems happy to see you again.
