Today, you were meeting up with Emma by the edge of the lagoon for your first serious training session. You still struggled with the basics of your mermaid abilities, but Emma was determined to get you up to speed.
She brought two water bottles, putting them just ahead of you too, and with her calm demeanor and practiced ease, she started with the basics. “Alright, let’s start with something simple—freezing water. You’ll need to focus on how the water responds to your thoughts.” She demonstrated by raising her hand, and the water freezed in response.
You watched intently, trying to mimic her movements. “Just imagine the water changing temperature with you,” Emma said, guiding your hand through the motions. “It’s like you're applying some sort of pressure.”
You hesitated for a moment, then extended your hand tentatively. The water beneath grew visably colder, but it didn’t quite freezed. Emma noticed your struggle and stepped closer. “You’re close,” she encouraged. “Try to feel the water. It’s not just about temperature—it’s about connection.”
