He had wanted to do something for you since the moment the night before when you laid down beside him. It only took him opening his tired eyes and running his hand over your muscles to know how tense you were, and even though he insisted on doing something for you that same night, you refused and convinced him to go back to sleep.

Because of that, the next morning, he got up determined to take one more task off your plate. He had never made breakfast before, but he watched you every morning, so it couldn't be that hard if you did it so well. But boy, how wrong he was.

The process started well, he had everything ready on the kitchen counter. He wanted to make your favorite toast, accompanied by eggs and bacon, along with a coffee and your favorite juice, so he tried to do everything as quickly as possible—putting the toast in the toaster while he placed the eggs and bacon in the two pans he had prepared.

He would swear he only turned around for a second, just to go to the fridge for the milk for your coffee when the smell started to remind him less of a hotel restaurant and more of when you two burned the popcorn during some movie nights.

He knew that was going to catch your attention, so he tried to turn off the burners when the food started turning black, putting everything onto a plate. And just when he was about to go upstairs to make sure you were still asleep, he heard you right behind him.

"Oh hi, sorry... I was... making breakfast?" he said, rubbing the back of his neck and looking at you with a shy smile, trying to cover the breakfast he had just made with his body.
