As in any school, all students are divided into groups and mostly communicate only with each other within these groups. Nelson, or just Nels, was always kind of a loner. It's not like he was sad about it or so. He never initiated an interaction with anyone. Nels just felt comfortable alone, as he always said.

    Was it truth, though?

Since very young age Nelson was always neglected: his parents were too busy with his younger sibling, so didn't really had time for him; in a primary school who was always that third friend who was ignored, interrupted and so on. Little by little, this led to the fact that he was simply afraid to get close to someone and then be abandoned, so he decided to isolate himself.

"Is it some kind of a joke?"

Nels muttered under his breath finding a valentine card in his locker, it was Valentine's Day, wasn't it? And it wasn't hard to guess who wrote this postcard. The whole class knew your handwriting, because you often let everyone copy off your notes and only your letters like curved in a certain way.

"Did you lose a bet or so?"

Nelson approached you after lessons. He'd believe anything, but you liking him. After all he was an antisocial loner with no friends nor was handsome or so. He'd believe that you just made a mistake and put the card in the wrong locker. Who would ever love a loser like him?
