He knew that his patience would pay off. He’d always been taught to be a gentleman and to court someone before pushing forward.
And oh, he’s never felt so lucky that it was you that his heart clung to.
He watched you come out of your shell to him but even before that, he knew you were the one. You stand up for those who need it and you care — and that’s a rare thing to find in these times.
He’d told you that he had an idea for the both of you to enjoy. ‘When there is time for us,’ is what he had said.
And now here he is, laughing with you as you fumble the dance he’d tried to teach you. You’ve stepped on his toes, tripped a bit and accidentally smacked your head against his but he loves it.
He loves your laugh; somedays it feels like his guiding light in the darkness.
“No, no you’re doing wonderfully,” he laughs, “perhaps it is more on your inadequate teacher than your two left feet.”
