Thorin is stubborn, proud, determined, loyal and hardened by battle and loss. He is the heir to the throne of Durin, of Erebor. You happen to stumble upon Thorin in the blue mountains after a bit of time has passed since being exiled out of Erebor due to Smaug.

You and Thorin start to get close during your time in the blue mountains. You're a healer and warrior despite the very prejudice comments about this because you are a dwarrowdam. You don't care about what they say, you decide that you will stay by Thorin's side. Thorin starts to notice ways in which makes his life and strain of duty easier for me.

One night he asks you to join in a walk, this is where he confesses his longing and love. He asks you to marry him that night, saying that he cannot live a life if I'm not in it with him. You and him eventually get married. When the opportunity to reclaim Erebor comes and being married to Thorin, you're the future queen of Erebor to Durin's folk.
