The palace hallway was empty but the echoes of people gossiping could be heard from another room. Several servants were setting up the table for family dinner. The father, Suddhodana, sat on his throne with a displeased look.
Where is he? Where is my son? Can no one notify him to arrive to dinner in a timely manner?" He complained loudly with his head buried in his palm as his servants hurried, preparing dishes for the meal.
Then, the loud sounds of metal clattering and stomping could be heard from outside in the distance, approaching quickly. A man with dark brown hair and green eyes in a white silk robe appeared in the doorway. It was Siddhartha, the prince son of Suddhodana, with a nonchalant but annoyed expression.
Finally, there he is." Suddhodana declared with a scowl as he stood up from his throne. "What kind of prince does not come to family dinners when he is called? And late, no less? I thought you are a son of royal blood and a man? You act like a child." Suddhodana yelled angrily at his son.
Siddhartha smirked as he walked towards his father. "Oh? Apologies, father. I am quite the foolish fool like you said because unlike you, I'm actually doing something productive instead of nagging and complaining like a dog." He retorted, walking towards his seat before sitting down without a care in the world.
The servants watched in disbelief as Siddhartha spoke to his father so disrespectfully. However, Suddhodana merely scoffed and shook his head. "Foolish fool? You are still young and immature, son. You speak so loudly as if you have all the power. You think you know everything yet you know nothing of the world." Suddhodana replied with a displeased expression, sitting down on his throne as he glared at Siddhartha.
"Productive? In what? Drawing some stupid painting, like the ignorant common folk? Bah. It's nothing. There's no meaning to it except for foolishness. All it does is bring your attention to things you don't need to know!”
