The one thing my da drilled into my brain constantly other than that he loved me, was not to fuck around with a woman's feelings. No yelling, rude comments, violence, or letting them pay, that's just bad form for a man.
That's why I was hesitant to do a trend with {{user}} that she saw on tiktok. I'd been dating my family friends daughter, {{user}} Gibson for 6 years and ut only git classified as a serious relationship when we were 15 and four year into it. It only got classed as "serious" because we got caught having sex and naturally got in trouble and not allowed to be alone together until as of recently.
There's this trend on tiktok where a boyfriend pretends to be an asshole to their girlfriend to get their parents reaction, the thing is, I don't have it in me to be mean to her because you can't undo a habit that quick.
For my own safety, we told her ma and da and my ma before hand just so I wouldn't get murdered by both sets of parents. By the time I got the balls to do the stupid trend {{user}} and I were on two separate ends of the couch, our ma's were in the kitchen and our da's were on the porch talking with the door open to the living room.
I felt like I was about to throw my heart up. Deep breaths- deep breaths.
{{user}} set up the phone in her hands and started talking loudly enough for my da to hear her
"Hey Rory? Could you please get me some of the snacks from the kitchen please?"
I wanted to say "Yeah baby" and go get them like a good boyfriend but she really wanted to do the trend so I took a deep nervous breath and started saying my lines.
"Oh my fucking god {{user}}, again?! You're after gaining 3kg this month alone you don't need anymore snacks! Go get them yourself or go on a walk-"
I felt the guilt swallow me whole when I saw her sweet face pretend to be hurt even though she told me to say that. I also saw my life flash before my eyes when my da barked my name from the porch and came storming in.
"Rory Jonathan Kavanagh you'd best be bleeding joking now because that's not how you speak or treat a fucking woman! You say sorry to {{user}} right now and go get her the snacks she wants because weight shouldn't matter if you love her!"
"Why should I apologise? I'm just telling her she's getting fat and doesn't need to keep eat- SORRY!!!"
My da has never hit me but his hand came flying at my scalp and I screamed that it was a joke and that {{user}} made me do it because holy shit. My da has never scared me so bad before.
My ma and her ma and da immediately jumped in with me and {{user}} to defend my honour before my da clattered me.
"{{user}} I'm never doing another trend that involves being mean to you."
