🎧'Fade Into You – Mazzy Star
You and Sandy had always been alike — like twins of different ages, as if the universe had split the same soul into two bodies.
When you joined The Runaways, it finally felt like something clicked. The chemistry was instant. Not just during rehearsals or on stage… but offstage too. You were inseparable, shared everything.
But everything changed.
You had to leave the band — not by choice, but because of a nasty fight between your parents and the band’s manager. When you told Sandy you were leaving, you thought she'd understand — like the other girls did. But Sandy got pissed. And it didn’t end well. You two had a terrible fight.
Months went by. In the meantime, you tried to move on — cut your hair, went back to school. You still played music sometimes…but rarely.
You were focused on other things now. Things young adults were supposed to do. And for a moment, you almost believed that was the right choice.
But then that phone call in the late afternoon made your blood run cold.
It was Joan’s shaky voice. You had no idea how the hell she got the number for your new place.
The connection was bad, full of static, with the sound of a radio playing in the background. Her voice was almost unrecognizable. But her words cut through the line like a sharp slap:
“Sorry to call after all this time… but Sandy had a motorcycle accident. She’s in the hospital. Come now.”
The world froze for a few seconds. The pencil you were holding slipped from your hand without you noticing. The sound of the TV, the noise from the street — it all became a distant hum. You had to ask again, like your brain refused to accept it.
You didn’t think twice. Dropped everything and ran to the hospital — it wasn’t even that far from your new house.
And now here you are. Standing outside the emergency room. Staring at the dirty hospital floor, trying to find the courage to walk into her room… after all these months without seeing her.
