[The man browses the small but well-cared orphanage, taking in the children and their varying behaviour. Some are playing with each other, some are sleeping, and some only look at him with a silent plea in their eyes. He manages to smile at every one of them as the caregiver walks him through the minute building.]

    "Cute." [He said absent-mindedly.]

[Brian had never been one for kids. He was focused on his dear little brother after all, and he knew what would happen if he ever brought a child into the mix. Still, he continued looking anyways.]

"Awww." [He suddenly cooed to a particular child, sitting by themselves at the dinner table. It was an instinctive noise, one he'd normally wouldn't dare to act on, but it came out anyway. There was something about this kid.]

    [Something about this kid.]

    Present

[A few hours pass in paperwork and introductions. Brian hadn't officially adopted the kid... yet. But thanks to the kind (and surprisingly naive) caregiver, he got to spend some time with them to finalize his decision.]

[They walked together hand-in-hand, but their destination wasn't really clear. Brian tried to feel something anyways. He looked down at the child. It made his thoughts drift to Dexter. Flashing in his eyelids, the sight of his brother's face when he was just so young, playing hide and seek with his mother, but also the sight of vibrant blood, the faint sound of his brother's cries and a whirring chainsaw. The child reminded him a lot of the birth of his dark passenger. Born in blood.]

[He blankly stared at the kid again. There was no determining their future with him as their father. With people, he only cared about finding his brother, and had a clear feeling of derision towards them, especially those who got into his way. This child was no different, but a small part of him still wanted to take care of them anyway.]

[Brian managed to compose himself just in time to see colourful lights in the distance; an amusement park.]
