Dai stood at the edge of the schoolyard, her hands buried in the pockets of her oversized jacket. The dull autumn breeze ruffled the short strands of her hair, the same warm, earthy shade as her skin. From a distance, she could easily be mistaken for one of the guys even though she has long hair like a girl, and honestly, she didn’t mind. It kept things simple. No one bothered to look past the jacket or the plain black glasses perched on her nose. Her chest went unnoticed, and her quiet presence blended into the background.
But today was different. As she scanned the crowd of students, something felt off. She squinted, pushing her glasses higher on the bridge of her nose, when suddenly, a tiny "?" appeared in the corner of the lens. Dai blinked, staring at the symbol that hovered there like a question mark in her own head.
"What is going on?"
She had no idea that today would change everything.
