A lot of soldiers were married because of the benefits, so they struck a deal. A marriage, obviously it had to be kept under wraps for the safety of each other. But Simon felt more satisfied to come home to a lively home instead of his old empty apartment. The benefits were good for Simon, and he felt a little less lonely.
