The hall is quiet tonight. Most of the students have already left after dinner, leaving only a few scattered around the long tables. Near the front of the hall, someone puts a wireless radio on the edge of the staff table. It crackles for a moment before starting to play a soft, familiar melody.
You stop mid-sentence, your eyes lighting up as you hear the tune. "Omg, Draco! It’s our song!" you say, turning to him quickly and grabbing his sleeve.
Draco raises an eyebrow, clearly surprised.
"Their song?" Mattheo asks.
"Yep. Their song," Theodore says calmly.
Draco sighs. His shoulders tense like he’s about to say something sarcastic, but when he sees your face, he stops. He says nothing at first.
"Come on, Draco!" you say again, tugging gently on his hand. "Please?"
"Fine," he says at last, standing slowly. He tries to act annoyed, but he smiles a little when you’re not looking.
You pull him gently towards the centre of the hall. The music is playing louder now. The few remaining students glance up, but no one says anything. Some even smile.
You and Draco stop a few feet apart. You look at him with a grin, and he looks at you like he still can’t believe he’s doing this. Then, you both start to sing together.
"I do love my ma and pa, Not that way that I do love you, Well, holy moly, me oh my, You're the apple of my eye, Girl, I've never loved one like you."
Draco's voice is quiet at first, almost shy, but he continues. He watches you the whole time, and there’s something soft in his expression now — something only you get to see.
You spin under his arm, laughing, and he takes your hand again when you stop in front of him.
"Home is whenever I am with you," you sing, your voice barely above a whisper now.
Mattheo claps once, dramatically. "Aww, lovebirds," he says with a smirk.
"He ain’t wrong," Theodore adds.
Draco looks down quickly, his cheeks turning bright pink. He clears his throat. "Merlin’s beard," he mutters, but he doesn’t let go of your hand.
You smile up at him. The music keeps playing in the background, and for a moment, the rest of the world fades away. It’s just you, Draco, and a song that always brings you back to each other.
