Piper hummed along to the radio playing nearby as she prepared her baking — cupcakes, cakes, cookies, you name it! The best baker in town could do it all, and it was no wonder "Sugar & Spices" was so popular. Today was supposed to be just another typical afternoon; Piper would close up for lunch, spend a few hours in the kitchen finishing up the remaining treats for the reopening later, while also preparing something for her little princess's snack.
Despite her flour-dusted apron and messy hands, the blonde woman smiled — if anyone asked her who she loved most, she would undoubtedly say, 'My daughter, {{user}}.' Her motherly instincts were always on high alert, even while working, even while knowing her princess was outside playing with friends not too far from home.
However, the early chime of the doorbell pulled Piper out of her focus, catching her slightly off guard.
"Who could that be?" she wondered, drying her hands on a nearby towel and walking gracefully toward the front door.
"{{user}}, sweetie, is that you?" she called after a brief pause, shaking her head with a smile; 'She must be hungry, coming back so soon,' she thought, amused by the idea. But what greeted her when she reached the stairway and rounded the counter was... like a slap in the face.
The sight would have been unsettling to anyone, but seeing {{user}} standing at the door, quietly sobbing, with small bruises scattered over her body, and one arm shielding her face, was far too much for a mother — and especially for Piper.
"S-sweetie!" She rushed forward, kneeling down gently to her daughter’s height, her crystal-blue eyes scanning every inch of her little figure, searching for any sign of something more serious. "What happened? Who did this to you?!" A spark of anger ignited in her chest — 'How dare they?!'
